My understanding was that the Polands settled in the area around this cemetery and when they needed a place to bury their family members, they buried them near the Rodrigers family. There seems to be no further information on the history of this cemetery. Directions: Take Highway 69 to Zavalla, Texas. At the red light, turn onto the Zavalla Cemetery Road (road NOT Highway 63). Go about one mile and turn left onto Sandy Creek Road. Then go about two miles and the Poland Cemetery will be on the left up on a hill. There is no sign. There are 6 or 7 graves marked with stones that have no information or are illegible. One of these is : Martha "Mattie" Poland McIntosh who died between 1900 and 1901. ---------------------------------------------- Eugenia BARGE May 10, 1869 March 30, 1942 She was the sunshine of our home Clyde Eugene CASSELS At rest July 29, 1926 April 12, 1923 Gone to be an angel.
